SPEAKEASY ARCHIVES welcomes you to the past. As you look through the catalog of old time radio shows you will see things like EX, COM, VG+ and BBC, MUT. and much more. I will try to explain what these mean to you. Most are self-explained as you have already looked at the catalog.

SOUND QUALITY

EXCELLENT (EX): A clear crisp recording with only minor surface noise of the original transcription.

VERY GOOD (VG): Most of the radio shows listed fall in this range. The sound can vary from minor defects such as clicks, pops and scratches to normal background noise, but the audio is basically easy to enjoy. Many radio shows graded very good to very good plus in this catalog would be graded excellent by other dealers

GOOD (G): recordings that you will have to pay attention to. Most of the fidelity has been lost. We only list these shows because of rarity of the show.

When you see and plus (+) or a minus (-) these indicate what the sound grade is a little better or worse.

TIME

The times that is listed is only approximately and is NOT always exact. The time can vary as much as

20%. The time such as 15 minutes or 30 minutes and even 60 minutes can range from 4 to 5 minutes shorter. Especially if the show is syndicated (SYN) the times are just there to show you what the time would have been with the commercials that would have been there if the shows were sponsored.
